Better than a Feast

Better than a Feast

series: Exodus 24:9-18 #

verse: Exodus series #

Main Idea: #

On your birthday, many companies will give you something for free. And some people even dedicate the entire on a food crawl, getting free bites. And they’re continuously excited to satisfy a little craving. A small inconsistent hit of dopamine. But this is not real satisfaction.

We are people that are always longing for more. but there’s something out there that is objectively the best for us. It’s not about monetary value, it’s never about materialism.

Fellowship #

His presence turns fear into peace and striving into rest.

Let’s take a step back first. When we feast on God, our burdens are lifted away and we can experience true peace and satisfaction. When we eat and drink, it shouldn’t be about satisfying our selves and our ego.

Formation #

When we conflate performance to our value as a human, we break. It is simply not possible for us to maintain a certain level of performance that we are genuinely proud of at all moments of our lives. Nobody has that much will power. Once we can come to terms with this and truly believe it, is when we are able to lay down all of our material desires, all of our worries about other people’s opinions, and achieve a true transformation about the way we live our lives.

Fulfillment #

Your acceptance with God, is not based on your how well you are doing. But before you even failed, God accepted us and gave us rest based on his provision and mercy.

God asks us to enjoy what we have been provided. There is a reason why we are where we are and what we are. It’s all because of God’s grace to us. None of this was willed by our own hard work or dedication. God already loves us. There’s no earning it. Purely br grace. And this alone should motivate us to act differently.

Instead of feeling a pressure to perform, we get the privilege to excel.

God’s word is not a burden. It’s a way to live in grace. Moses is a special Don’t think about: “what will satisfy me next”, “search for it in the presence of God”. Don’t just keep purchasing new things in search of satisfying your own cravings. Your desires should all be centered on God and maintaining his calling to us.
