series: Reflecting His Light #
verse: Luke 2:8-20 #
Main Idea: #
While growing up, the kids that you interact with the most truly shape you. “To really know someone, get to know their 3 closest friends”.
And to expand upon this, we adapt to fit in with the people we’re around. But it’s especially important that we always reflect the character of Jesus, no matter the situation.
But what does it really mean to reflect Jesus’ light? Well for one it’s not to be “religious”. And it’s most certainly not barred behind certain actions like tithing or being generous. It actually begins witb how we respond to the glory of Jesus
What is Reflecting God’s Light #
Begins with listening to God’s Word well
If we look at verse Luke 2:20, the Shepherds are the first ones to hear the message about Jesus. And in verse 17, they immediately share this message with others. When you hear the message of God, you naturally reflect lets you respond to it.
But there is nuance to it. “How do we hear the Word well?”.
- Be mindful of it in your mundane ordinary life.
- The shepherds were simply tending to their flock when the angels appeared before them.
- And in verse 19, we also see Mary pondering it and protecting it.
- “How can I experience the truthfulness of the Word of God today?”
Why should we reflect the light of Christ? #
Jesus is the savior and Lord we could never be for ourselves
Luke 2:11. Jesus is THE SAVIOR. And it’s not just us that need Him. Everyone needs him.
When we give control to God, he will take care of everything in his own ways. We must surrender
How should we reflect the light of Christ? #
We reflect His light by responding to God’s Word without delay.
Luke 2:15 The sherperds respond with haste. And even Mary does the same. Even when it demanded sacrifice. The shepherds most likely lost sheep because they immediately left. But they weren’t considered with their earthly possessions. So don’t delay your response, and be prepared to sacrifice what you’re attached to.
