The Separation that Secured it All - Good Friday 2026

series: Good Friday Service 2026 #

verse: Matthew 27:46 #

Main Idea: #

Don’t remember the death of Jesus but thr sacrificial death or Jesus. It was a death that was purposeful for the fulfillment of His will.

Jesus’ Crucifixion #

It was more than a physical pain. What hurt him more was the spiritual cut between him and the Father. But he did it all willfully for our purpose

Jesus Secured God’s Presence #

Jesus was completely abandoned so that we would not be. Jesus being 100% God and 100% man knew of the consequences of proceeding with the crucifixion. “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”. But he did it for the purpose of reuniting us, his children with him. He did it so that we wouldn’t have to bear the intensity of that same separation. That we would not have to go through the same disconnect.

Jesus Secured God’s Acceptance #

Jesus was condemned and rejected, that we would be accepted by God. Let’s look at verses Matthew 27:39-40, where people were ridiculing and mocking Jesus. These people were threatening and agitating God to make a showing of his power. But choosing to stay on the cross and suffer, Jesus conveyed his love for us and of this world. The only one that was to deserve acceptance was Jesus. But he knowingly rejected it to pass it on to us. That anyone who follows and believes in Jesus would be accepted.

Jesus Secured God’s Purpose #

Jesus faced the darkness so that we could be the light into the world. Jesus was oppositional. He acted against the ways of man. He enters suffering, and doesn’t avoid it. He does so and fills the crowd with awe: “Surely this man is the Son of God”. And this should be a major encouragement to us that if Jesus was so radical that people couldn’t have a shred of doubt of his identity, we can do the minimum. The minimum of shining this same light into the darkness. Into those who have yet to know or come to accept the light that is Jesus Christ.
